DEIRDRE R. FRIESEN (nee RAMSAY) Born November 9, 1952 Died September 25, 2004 Peacefully on Saturday, September 25, 2004 at St. Boniface Palliative Centre, Deirdre passed away with her loving daughters Kalynn and Rachel and her devoted husband Robert at her side. The Lord took her home after a two and a half year journey living with ovarian cancer and the after effects of a stroke. She inspired all who were part of her life in these last few years with her determination, compassion, grace, a commitment to faith, the power of prayer, and her nurturing love and guidance she showed her two beautiful daughters for whom she felt truly blessed. She always looked forward to her weekly bible study group where she could share her faith with those whom she developed deep friendships. Her faith strengthened and comforted her throughout the many challenges she faced these last few years. She will be forever missed by her husband Robbie and daughters, Kalynn and Rachel. She leaves to mourn her sisters, Leslie Stevens (Tom) of Calgary and Jodi Meadows (Marcel) of Rimouski, PQ and her mother Patricia Meadows of British Columbia. She had a special place in her heart for her cousin Robert Tidd of Adelaide, Australia. She leaves to mourn her brothers-in-law, Wesley and Randy Friesen and their families. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews whom she all adored. There are many cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and a father-in-law who are grieving her loss. Deirdre was predeceased by her father, Kenneth Ramsay and her brother Gayphen Meadows. Deirdre was born in Toronto, but moved to England at an early age after her father died. After a couple of years her family returned to Canada where she grew up on St. Matthews Avenue and in Westwood. She graduated from Westwood Collegiate in 1970 and her love of children and teaching earned her an education diploma in 1972. She spent 11 wonderful years teaching at Chapman School in Charleswood where she inspired many students and forged long lasting friendships with other staff at the school. She continued her education while teaching and obtained her Bachelor of Education degree. After her children were born she continued working with preschool children teaching at a number of Nursery Schools in Charleswood, most recently at Roblin Park. Viewing will be held at Charleswood Mennonite Church, 699 Haney St. on Wednesday, September 29 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at Charleswood Mennonite Church on Thursday, September 30 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cancer Society for research into early detection of Ovarian Cancer. "Deirdre, you will be in our hearts forever" KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor - 925-1120
