HENRY JANZEN It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved husband, father and grandfather Henry Janzen on Saturday, September 25, 2004 at the Riverview Health Centre after a courageous battle with cancer. Henry will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his wife of 43 years Frieda; daughter Sindy (Ron) Derksen, and their children, Kieran and Luke. Henry is survived by his brothers, Isaak (Annie), John (Helen), Ernie (Elsie) and Will; sister-in-law Herta (Jake) Woelk; many nieces and nephews as well as many friends. Henry was predeceased by both parents and a brother in infancy. Henry was born on February 11, 1934 in Rosengart, Ukraine. In 1944, due to war and poverty, Henry and his family immigrated to Germany. In 1947 his family moved to Argentina, South America and then to Chaco, Paraguay. There his family settled in the Colony Neuland in Einlage and Henry learned the trade of fine carpentry. In 1956 Henry and his family came to Winnipeg. There Henry maintained his carpentry trade. Henry met Frieda earlier in Brazil and again in Winnipeg. They were married in 1961. Henry enjoyed brisk walks outside, tending to his gardens, trips to Mexico, and had a great enthusiasm for golf. Henry enjoyed his coffee time at Robins and Sunday brunches at Bromleys. He was especially grateful for the family and friends who joined him. Henrys greatest joy was spending time with his grandsons. Saturday mornings will never be the same. Henry was baptized upon the confession of his faith in 1953. Henry was a member of First Mennonite Church. He had a strong faith and trust in God. With Gods strength and reassurance, Henry was given the strength to battle the cancer and develop a sense of peacefulness with all around him. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 29 at 10:00 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave. Interment at Green Acres following the reception at the church. The family expresses their gratitude to the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their ever loving and tender care and comfort provided to Henry and his family. A special thank you to the nurses Tony, Betty, Andrea, Anne, Karen, Marlene, and Dawn; all the health care providers, and to Dr. Crow, Dr. Garcia, Dr. Popowich, Dr. Johnson, and Dads surgeon Dr. MacEachern. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make donations to Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4 or Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9. Lobe den Herrn meine Seele und was in mir ist seinen Heiligen Namen. (Psalm 103:1) KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor - 925-1120
