OLIVIA FERNANDES SERPA December 29, 1915- September 26, 2004 With family at her side, Olivia passed away peacefully at the age of 88, at Bethania Personal Care Home. Olivia was predeceased by her parents, Joaquim and Rosalina Fernandes and her five other siblings. Olivia was born in the village of Sao Bartolomeu, in the island of Terceira, Acores, Portugal. In 1940, she married Jose and raised five children together with love and devotion, Maria Irene Dutra (Bert Basarowich), Manuel Serpa, Joe Carlos (Filomena) Serpa, Maria Lourdes (Domingos) Borges and Arlindo (Chirstine) Serpa. Together with their children, they moved to Canada in 1966, where thy spent the rest of their lives watching their family grow to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jose (Karen) Dutra, Paulo (Sandra) Dutra, Elizabeth (Henrique), Dina, Elmiro, Paula (Corey, betrothed), Sandra (Steve, betrothed), Diane, Roger (Betty) Borges, Danny (Dawn) Borges, Elsie and Mike continue to cherish the memory of their Avo. Matthew, Tyler, James, Aaron, Christopher, Irene, Samantha and Bradley will also remember great-grandma with fondness. Olivia will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. A special thanks to the staff at Bethania Personal Care Home and Dr. Duerksen for their loving care and continued support. Olivia was a part of the Sisterhood of Carmelita. Please remember her in prayer with the Hail Mary, which she was so devoted to. Please join us at prayers on Tuesday, September 28, at 8:00 p.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. We also invite you to join us as we celebrate the Mass of the Resurrection on Wednesday, September 29, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe and Brazier. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Jose, Paulo, Roger, Danny, Paul and Elmiro. Descanse Em Paz Mae CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
