KAREN DAWSON Early on the morning of September 23, 2004, Karen passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. Karen was born in Manchester, England and came to Canada at the age of four when her parents, Elizabeth and Albert, decided to move here. They settled in Ottawa, ON and Karen moved to Manitoba in the mid 70s with her parents following shortly thereafter. Karen was an outstanding care giver and had lovingly cared for her parents for many years. She was employed at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Dentistry then at Winnipeg School Division No. 1. Her qualities and strengths were recognized and appreciated by her many friends and she is remembered especially as a mentor to many, a teacher of life who was loyal, compassionate, nurturing, supportive and particularly intuitive. Her spiritual nature allowed a deep understanding of people and life which she communicated to us all. Karen was extremely gifted in many ways. She was talented and creative and had a prevailing influence on the lives and surroundings of those around her. Life was a journey for Karen. She embraced diversity in individuals and cultures and this was reflected in the nature of her friendships. Karens life was not without obstacles and challenges and she faced them with dignity, tolerance, strength and always with a smile and quick wit. She will live on in our hearts forever. A private service was held at Glen Lawn Memorial Garden on September 27. Donations in Karens memory could be made to any Animal Shelter or to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
