FRED GLASS On Sunday, September 26, 2004 after a lengthy illness, Fred Glass, beloved husband of Judy, passed away at home at the age of 67 years. Fred will be sadly missed by Judy, his loving wife of 45 years; sons, Thomas (Paula), Dave (Lisa) and Jeff (Christine) brother George (Mido) sisters, Janet Webb and Florence (Albert) Kulczycki; sister-in-law Barbara Glass; brother-in-law Duncan (Jody) McWhirter of British Columbia; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that he cared for as only Fred could. He was best friend and loving grandfather to Andrew, Matthew, Colin, Cody, Stephanie and Emily, the best and most beautiful kids in his world. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Jim, best friend and cousin Richard Carpenter and great-niece Jennifer Webb. Fred was educated at Victory School and West Kildonan Collegiate, and continued to raise his family in his favourite neighbourhood. He was employed with the City of West Kildonan and eventually the City of Winnipeg Works and Operations and a member of C.U.P.E. from 1954 until his retirement in 1988. Fred was the worlds biggest cheerleader for his kids and grandkids in their soccer and hockey endeavours, even though he could not be on the sidelines when he wanted to be. Fred was a friend to many of his sons friends over the years at school and in sports, many of whom he was called "Dad" or "Archie Bunker". He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations in Freds memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away. You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting Until the very end. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.gleneden-mb.ca
