Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUISE YAKIELASHEK Peacefully on September, 25, 2004, at St. Josephs Residence, Louise passed away at the age of 85. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Andrew; three brothers, Lawrence, Stanley and Joseph Ryz; and her sister Rose. She leaves to mourn her daughter Andrea Dorratt (husband Bryan) grandchildren, Monique Smith (husband Dave) and Terry Dorratt (wife Laura) and three great-grandchildren, Danielle, Noelle and Bryan. Also her youngest brother Tony Ryz (wife Margaret) and sisters-in-law, Jean Ryz and Catherine Ryz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Louise was affectionately known as "Mrs. Yak" and "Gram" to friends and family. She moved into Winnipeg from Sifton, MB, where she was proud of her farming heritage. She quickly became involved at St. John Cantius Church in both the Polish and English choirs as she loved to sing. She was actively involved in the church and community and was a lifetime member of the Catholic Womens League. In 1950 she joined the Hudsons Bay Co. and was a career woman who enjoyed her 27 years at the Bay. Her outgoing personality and conscientious attitude made for a perfect fit as she thoroughly enjoyed working there. An early retirement was needed to care for her late husband Andrew, spending long hours by his side. Louise opened her home and heart throughout the years to family and friends that needed a place to stay or a shoulder to cry on. Her door was always open. In 1972 the cottage was built and was her second love, whether it was gardening or building, all tasks were a joy at the lake. Gram also loved escaping winter in Mazatlan and had many fun times and friends that still ask about her. Louise had a great sense of humour and enjoyed life and people. Her honesty and commitment were her strong traits and she never did things half way. This was demonstrated throughout her life in work, play, good times and bad, Louise would always be there. We will always miss you Louise (Gram). The family would like to thank the staff at St. Josephs and home care who cared for her with kindness and respect. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, September 29 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 30 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Ave. with Rev. Fr. Henryk Uczniak officiating. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if so desired a donation may be made to the Alzheimer Society in Louises memory.
