Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCY CHOKEN April, 1, 1926 - September 27, 2004 It is with great sadness and deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, sister and friend, Lucy Choken on September 27, 2004 at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern. Lucy is survived by her daughters, Claudia (Orville), Linda, Myna (Larry) her sons, Leon (Shirley), John (Barbie), Raymond, Richard and Gordie (Melanie) also numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brothers, Brabant and Adolph (Isabel) her longtime companion Edwin Sutherland; and her very dear friend Olga Maytwayashing; her daughters-in-law, Sarah Choken, Olive Choken and Marilyn Choken. She was predeceased by her husband William Choken; her sons, Terrance, Kenneth, Donald and Steve; her parents, Elizabeth and Louie Swan. Before her illness took a toll on her, Lucy enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. She was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She enjoyed going to yard sales, bingo, doing housework, baking, canning, doing yard work and sewing. Lucy was a hard worker. She was employed by the Lake Manitoba Band for a number of years, working at the Health Centre as a Cleaning Lady. A wake service will be held on Thursday, September 30 at her residence on Lake Manitoba First Nation beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church on Lake Manitoba First Nation with Fr. John Brophy officiating. Interment to follow in the Lake Manitoba Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brian Swan, Jason Swan, Francis Swan, Curtis Choken, Larry Swan and Donald Swan.
