GRAY September 1, 1925 - September 27, 2004 On Monday morning, September 27, 2004 Dad went home to be with Mom, who he missed so deeply. He quietly and peacefully and ever so bravely, passed away at Concordia hospital. Dad was born and raised in Winnipeg. He went to Principal Sparling school and upon leaving school he went to work for Western Messenger. In 1943 Dad although under age join the forces in response to his country needs. He spent 30 months in the navy. Upon his discharge he went back to Western Messenger for a short time then he found his career. He joined the Winnipeg Police Force in 1948 where he stayed until he retired in 1978. Dad was always prepared to offer his help and was an especially gifted organizer. He was President of East Elmwood Community Club when we were kids for which he was recognized by the city of Winnipeg. He was a director and secretary for the Winnipeg Police Association and Winnipeg Police Veterans Association. Dad was a Mason and he was master of his Lodge. In later years dad also drove cancer patients to their doctors and the hospital. Dad was predeceased by Mom, Viola Gray his wife of 54 years; his parents, Robert and Dorothy Gray; and sister-in-law Nell Gray; his mother and father-in-law, Bithia and Herbert Inman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lorne and Muriel Inman. He is survived by his daughters, Gail (Paul) Overgaard, Joanne (Murray) Bullen; his sons, Bob, Dennis, Gordon (Terrie) Bill (Mike). Dad had 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also his sister Marg McGregor; and brothers, Lorne (Anne) Gray and Bob Gray and their families. As well brothers-in-law, Art (Mary) Inman, Carl (Nancy) Inman, Isabel (Gary) Roberge. Dad although we cant hold you we know you are here WE LOVE YOU Special thanks to the nurses and staff in 3 west of Concordia you know who you are thank you for being so kind and loving to Dad. Cremation with a memorial service to be held on Friday, October 1, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 East and Navin Road. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery.
