LORINE JEAN GLADYS HODGSON On Monday, September, 27 2004, Lorine Jean Gladys Hodgson passed away with her family by her side. Aunty Rene will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by Brian and Nancy Hodgson, Tom, Miranda & Eric, Megan, Stephen, Rosemary and Bob Scurfield, Cam & Corey Boult, all of Winnipeg, Margaret and Brendan Hodgson of Vancouver Island; Raymond Hodgson (cousin) & Susan Hodgson of St. Catherines, Ontario and other nieces and nephews. Lorine was born January 17, 1912 in Winnipeg. She taught school for many years in the Winnipeg School Division, including Grosvenor, Earl Grey and St. Johns High Schools. She had a special way of connecting with her students and often reminisced about former students and their accomplishments. Lorine was also an active member of the Ex Wrens Association. She was very proud of her service time with the WRENs and would entertain us with stories about her experiences and the comraderie of her fellow WRENs. Lorine had a long association with Rainbow Stage where for many years she volunteered serving coffee to the cast and crew. Family and friends were all important to Lorine. She was our expert on family history and always kept us up to date on distant relatives. Aunty Rene was very proud of her immediate family and every accomplishment was celebrated. She was always there for us. The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the staff and caregivers at Tuxedo Villa who gave her such great attention for the last four years. Also thanks to the nursing staff on the 3rd floor of the Grace Hospital whose kindness in making Lorine comfortable was so much appreciated. A memorial service was held on Thursday, September 30 at 1:30 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a charity of ones choice.
