MARY NENKA Mary Nenka born June 22, 1917, passed away peacefully Monday, September 27, 2004 at the Holy Family Personal Care Home in Winnipeg at the age of 87 years. Mary is survived by sons, Joe (Mary), Paul (Elizabeth), Alex (Beverley), Richard, Peter (Laurel) daughters, Elsie Charney, Evelyn Nenka, Sister Francis Fedoruk; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. Mary was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1968; son Ivan in 1954; granddaughter Denise Nanka in 1986; grandson Jerry Nenka in 1964; brothers, John and Tony Strylyski; stepsister Mary Muzyka. She lived in the Sundown area most of her life farming with her husband. She later moved to Winnipeg to be closer to her family. Mary was a hard worker who liked the simple things in life. She was a homemaker most of her life and loved to garden. Mary also worked at Systems Monitor for a time. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Ascension Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sundown with interment at the parish cemetery. Prayers will be held Wednesday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel. The family wishes to thank the Holy Family Personal Care Home staff for their loving care during her stay there.
