GEORGE OYSTRYK June 5, 1907 - September 26, 2004 It is with deep sorrow that the family of George Oystryk announces his peaceful passing on September 26, 2004, at the Poseidon Central Park Lodge. With his family at his side, George succumbed to a brief illness at the age of 97. George was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary and by his dear granddaughter Janice. As well, he is survived by a sister in-law Lillian Kobrynsky, and numerous nieces and nephews. Born to Wasyl and Paraska Oystryk on June 5, 1907, George spent his childhood in Dneiper, SK. As a youngster, he attended Oleskow School and dedicated his time helping his father on the farm. In 1932, George married Mary Oucharek and they settled across from the Oystryk family homestead to begin their new life. In 1963, after raising their five children, Mary and George left Saskatchewan to retire in Winnipeg. In their retirement years, they travelled widely in Western Canada and parts of the United States and Mexico. A generous and friendly man, George welcomed family and friends to his home and was always ready to give a helping hand. He took great pleasure in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George had many talents, one of them playing the violin. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his cars and just puttering around the house. He will be remembered for his dry wit and sharp mind. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the 5th floor staff and volunteers of the Poseidon Central Park Lodge for their kind and compassionate care. Prayers will be held on Friday, October 1, 2004 at 7:00 p.m., followed by a funeral mass on October 2, 2004 at 10:00 a.m., both at Sts.
