GARY LLOYD SPILLETT It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Gary Lloyd Spillett, husband of Wendy, on Tuesday, September 28, 2004. Gary is survived by his loving wife Wendy; mother Gladys Spillett; brothers, Wayne (Sherie) of Langley, BC and John (Bernie) of Charleswood. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Bruce and Blair Schroeder; sisters-in-law, Susan (Jim) Curran and Brenda (Bryan) Thom of Winnipeg; several nieces and nephews; and his very special four-legged pal "Kellee". He will also be greatly missed by his many friends and colleagues. Gary was predeceased by his father Jack Spillett; and his in-laws, Vic and Peggy Schroeder. Gary was born in Winnipeg on March 20, 1951. He spent his entire life in Charleswood where he attended school at Beaumont, Dieppe and Charleswood Collegiate. Gary and Wendy met in high school and married in May 1973. Gary was an incredibly kind, compassionate, generous, big-hearted person who usually didnt want people to know that. Gary was always the first one there when someone needed help - whether helping someone move or giving someone a ride. The time he spent with his "special" brother-in-law Blair was always a top priority for him. His generosity to his friends and family will be greatly missed. Up until the time of his death, Gary was employed at Manitoba Public Insurance, where he was a claims supervisor at the Pacific claim centre. He joined MPI in December 1971 and prior to that was with Kernaghan Adjusters. Gary will be greatly missed by all those who worked with him over the years. Gary was always a great fan of sports - whether it was hockey, baseball, curling or playing golf. He curled with the Winnipeg Hydro curling league for many years. In recent years, he loved biking and participating in several charity walks, including CancerCare and the Humane Society (Paws in Motion). He loved taking his pal on walks where Gary acted as "guide dog" to his beloved blind Kellee. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Grierson and the staff at Health Sciences Centre Emergency Department. Also thanks to the caring staff at CancerCare Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to CancerCare MB, 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 2 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
