JOHN HEILAND John passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Monday, September 27, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre. Left to be remembered by, are his grandchildren, Aynsley (Terra) and Todd (Keri) greatgrandson Devon; daughter in law Margaret; very special friend Jean McCort and her family, Mikki, Debby and Brenda; nieces, Susan, Kathy and Marianne; cousin Regina Dagdick and many relatives and friends, especially John and Betty Van Roon. John was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Elizabeth; his wife Annie (Mancy) Heiland; his only son Dave and all of Johns brothers and sisters, Phillip, Alex, Peter, Elizabeth, Kay, Mary and Lena; as well as his nephew Allen. John served in the navy, worked for his father and then enjoyed 36 years of service in the Winnipeg Fire Department, retiring in 1983 as a District Chief. We all shared his pride in his chosen career. John was always a hard worker but he also enjoyed dancing. He belonged to the Polka Lovers Club of America. A little dog called Nikki took a special place in Johns heart and accompanied him everywhere. John will also be remembered for the Johnny "Fearless" Heiland Annual Golf Classic. Donations may be made in Johns memory to the Firefighters Burn Fund. A memorial will be held on Monday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army Chapel, 324 Logan Ave.
