GORDON WESTLAKE ATKINSON 1929 - 2004 Gordon Westlake Atkinson of Victoria, BC, formerly of Winnipeg died peacefully on September 6, 2004 after a valiant fight against prostate cancer. Gordon was born and raised in Winnipeg and moved to Victoria in 1989 to enjoy his retirement. He began his career with the Canadian Pacific Express. Nine years later, he joined Air Canada where he worked for 34 years. He was fondly known as "Mr. Cargo" and loved meeting people and travelling during the course of his career. He was an ardent golfer and spent many happy years playing at the St. Boniface Niakwa and Royal Colwood golf clubs. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Gordon is the youngest son of the late John and Nellie Atkinson. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Fairlye and two daughters, Leanne Lange (Dean) of Port Moody, BC and Kellee Stewart (Ian) of Winnipeg and grandchildren, Alicen and Julia Lange and Emily, Katie and Cole Stewart. He is also survived by his older brother Hugh of Coquitlam. Many thanks to Dr. C. Pengilly, Dr. P. Pommerville and the home care nurses, especially Michelle for their compassionate care. A celebration of Gordons life was held on Saturday, September 11 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at The Royal Colwood Golf Club, 629 Goldstream Ave., Victoria.
