ADA ELSIE HENROTTE Surrounded by her family, Ada Elsie Henrotte, aged 94, passed peacefully to her eternal rest on Wednesday, September 29, 2004, following a brief stay in the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB. Elsie is survived by her partner George Watson; sons, Reg (Karol), Lloyd (Shirley) daughters-in-law, Muriel, Elaine; 10 grand-children, Bev (Robert), Carol (Norman), Lois, Sharon (Elwyn), Karen (Jim), Tammy, Michelle (Sheldon), Shane, Steven (Saleena), Danny (Amber) 21 great-grandchildren, Rhonda, Robbie, Stacy (fiance Trevor), Derek, Walter (Amie), Danielle (special friend Kevin), Celynne, Khalida, Brandon, Amber, Frazer, Tayllor, Justin, Alyssa, Cole, Keeley, Braden, Blaine, Rylee, Mattisen, Kallie; her sister Gladys Windross and numerous nieces and nephews. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Marcel; sons, Denis and Bruce; great-grandson Josh; her parents, William and Ada Smith; her youngest sister Marjorie; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and her special friend Sarah. Elsie was born in Birmingham, England on April 26, 1910, coming to Canada with her parents at the tender age of six weeks. After spending the first year in Winnipeg, the family arrived in Eriksdale by train in July 1911 and lived on a farm four miles south of Eriksdale. Elsie walked many miles looking for the milk cows as a child and later during her farming career with Marcel. She was a caring, dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a willing helper in time of need and quite capable of "putting you in your place" if she deemed that necessary. Mum was an avid reader, loved to "old time" dance and also loved to travel.She took various grandchildren on car trips ranging from Ontario to British Columbia.In later years, when physical activities became too challenging, she started crocheting in earnest and has since crocheted miles and miles of yarn into afghans and covers for family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, at the Eriksdale Community Hall in Eriksdale, with Melanie Kauppila officiating.Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service in the Hall.Interment to follow in the Lundar Municipal Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Steven, Danny and Shane and great-grandsons Robbie, Walter and Derek. Honorary pallbearers for Mum that day will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If friends so wish, donations can be made to the Eriksdale Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion No. 140, Eriksdale, MB R0C 0W0 or a charity of ones choice. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOMES LTD.
