PAUL ROBERT ZASTRE Paul Robert Zastre passed away in Brooks, AB on September 29, 2004 at the age of 60 years. He is survived by his loving family, son Tyler of Brooks and his mother Lynn of London, ON; sister-in-law Blanche and her family in Vancouver, BC; sister Lucille (Otto) Filz and family in Winnipeg; brother Donald in Winnipeg; brother Edward (Francine) and family in Prince George, BC; brother Dave (Florence) and family in Brooks; sister Annette (Bob) McKinnon and family in Leduc, AB; brother Marcel (Alvina) and family in Delta, BC; brother Raymond (Donna) and family in Winnipeg; brother Vern and his family in Winnipeg; sister Denise (Rick) Treyturik and family in Winnipeg; sister-in-law Vera (Henry) in Winnipeg and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was born on January 31, 1944 in St. Rose Du Lac, MB, son of Joseph and Leonchine Zastre, and resided in Magnet, MB. He completed his Grade 11 in St. Rose High School and graduated from the Manitoba Institute of Technology, Winnipeg with his Masonry Certificate. He had also attended Michael Hopkins Broadcasting School. Paul had resided in Winnipeg, Dryden, ON and Medicine Hat, AB before moving to Brooks. He was self employed in partnership with his brother Dave at Zastre Masonry Ltd. Paul had been involved with the Magnet 4 H Club and was an Associate Member of the EID Branch, Royal Canadian Legion, Brooks. His special interests included baseball, fastball, football, hunting, fishing, attending Zastre Tigers and Brooks Bandits hockey games and will be remembered for the treats he took to the dressing rooms, attending Grey Cup games with Marcel, Alvina and friends, entertaining Tyler and his friends, watching the Toronto Blue Jays, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He will be fondly remembered for his love of harmless practical jokes on his friends. Paul was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, sister Arleta, brother Maurice, sister Verna and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Prayers services were held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3 from Smith Memorial Chapel. Rev. Mr. Robert N. J. Wilson Deacon officiating. Funeral mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 4 from St. Marys Catholic Church, Brooks. Fr. Vincent Tuan Ha Celebrant. Pallbearers were Bob McKinnon, Ed Zastre, Marcel Zastre, Dave Zastre, Raymond Zastre and Vern Zastre. In memory of Paul, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to either Canadian Cancer Society, #102-1865 Dunmore Rd.
