WILLIAM KOVICH 1934 - 2004 After a lengthy and courageous battle with Diabetes, suddenly on Friday, October 1, 2004 surrounded by his family, William (Bill) Kovich passed away peacefully. Dad was born in 1934 in Gimli, MB to Leo and Alice Kovich of Homer. Dad attended Homer School but had to quit at an early age to work on the family farm. As a young man, Dad worked on many farms in the Interlake. It was during that time that he met his loving wife of 42 years, Edna Kovich (Larocque). Together Mom and Dad had six children. In 1972 Dad gave up farming and moved his family to Selkirk, MB where he began his employment with Mandak Metals until his time of retirement in 1991. Due to his health, Dad was forced to move to Winnipeg where he resided until his time of passing. Dad enjoyed his time hunting and fishing and always had many stories to tell about his experiences. There was not a Saturday that went by where you wouldnt find him listening to his fiddling music on CFRY. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Edna; daughter Sherry (Gordon) of Winnipeg and their children, Leann, Chantelle and Gordie; son, Dwayne (Terra) of Winnipeg and their children, Lance and Briana; daughter, Cheryl (Jim) of Garson and their children, Brandi, James and John; son, Grant (Tammie) of Winnipeg and their children, Candace, Tyler Richard and great-granddaughter, Torianna; son, Terry (Heather) of Winnipeg and their son Brenden; also sisters, Annie and Josie of Arborg; and brother Eddie of Homer District. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Alice; infant daughter, Dalene in 1968; daughter Crystal Triggs in 2001; his siblings, Steve, Johnny, Mike, Helen and Katie; his in-laws, Joseph and Rose Marie Larocque; several brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law. At Dads request, cremation has taken place with a private family service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ducks Unlimited or the Winnipeg Humane Society. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Beacon Hill Lodge. He Only Took my Hand Last night while I was trying to sleep my Dads voice did I hear, I opened my eyes and looked around but he did not appear, He said youve got to listen; youve got to understand; God didnt take me from you, He only took my hand. When I cried out in pain that day, the instant that I died, He reached down and took my hand and pulled me to his side. He pulled me up and saved me, from the misery and pain. My body so badly wounded, I could never be the same. My search is finally over now; Ive found happiness within, I love you all and miss you so... please dont keep asking why. My bodys gone forever, but my spirit will never die! So live until we meet again, and please try to understand, God didnt take me from you, "He Only Took My Hand!" May you finally rest in peace.
