KATHLEEN (KAY) STEELE On Sunday, October 3, 2004 Kathleen (Kay) Steele passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at 98 years of age. She was born on August 25, 1906 in Deloraine, MB the youngest child of Catherine (McCrindle) and Benjamin Steele. Kay was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Ernie, Bill, Fred and Victor; sisters, Jean and Bessie; and niece Shirley Carleton. She is survived by her nephew Murray Steele (Lorraine) niece Barbara Steele; great-nephews, Gary Carleton, Grant Steele; great-nieces Lynda Talvesti, Kelley McCarthy and Kathy Desbiolles. Kay graduated from the Winnipeg General Hospital as an R.N. in 1935 following which she obtained the certificate in Public Health at the University of McGill in Montreal. On her return to Winnipeg she nursed in the community and then joined the Manitoba Department of Health where she spent many years working out of the Stonewall Public Health Unit. She was a lady of many interests. Sports played a big part in her life and in particular following her beloved Blue Bombers first as a season ticket holder and then on television and radio. The family would like to thank all the staff on GD2 at the Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion during her stay. They are all truly angels of mercy.
