Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryREITA MAY BOWLES Reita May Bowles passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2004 in the Souris Hospital. Reita was born on December 4, 1916 to William and Rachel Morrison. She was born on the family farm in the Beresford District. She attended South Beresford School and then went to school in Brandon. On December 12, 1934 she married Allen Bowles. They farmed together at Newstead. Reita enjoyed working with the cattle, hauling grain and even some carpentry work. She moved to Souris in 1972 and worked at the Robinsons Store. She later became manager of the store. She was on the school board of the Riverview School District, and member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Ladies Orange Lodge. Reita was an avid bowler for many years. In 1970, she competed in the Canadian Bowling Championship in Vancouver, BC. She also enjoyed fishing and playing the piano. Reita was predeceased by her husband, Allen, in 1964 and an infant daughter in 1945; her father, William Morrison, in 1971; her mother, Rachel Morrison in 1974; her sister, Edna Johnston of Carman in 1996; her granddaughter, Sharon Bowles in 2000. She is survived by her two sons, Douglas (Irma) of Strathclair and Wayne (Evelyn) of Souris; two brothers, Bert (Norma) Morrison of Souris and twin brother, Roy of Brandon; and two sisters, Eva Morrison of Brandon and Vera Irvine of Burnaby, BC. She is also survived by three grandsons, two granddaughters, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Pauls United Church, Souris, MB. Interment will take place at the Souris & Glenwood Cemetery. Rev. John Oldenkamp will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Reita may be made to the Palliative Care Unit in the Souris Hospital. Kowalchuks Funeral Home, Souris, Manitoba in care of arrangements.
