Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBELLE DAITER Peacefully, with family by her side, after a short fight with cancer, Belle Daiter passed away on October 5, 2004, at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 71. Belle is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Zenith, children, Debra Mayer and husband Norman of Winnipeg, Sharon Heidinger and husband Garry of Ottawa, grandsons Matthew, Jesse and Seth Mayer and Brandon Heidinger, brother Irvin (Ozzie) Plosker and wife Sandra of Winnipeg and brother-in-law Morley Daiter and wife Gloria of Toronto as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Nathan and Anne, her brother Morris, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Phil & Dorothy Daiter. Belle was born July 11, 1933 in Winnipeg and attended William Whyte School and St. Johns Tech. She met Zen at Success Business College and they married March 2, 1952. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Kenora, Ontario where they were involved in the motel and grocery business. After their return to Winnipeg in 1962, they continued in the grocery business for many years, first with Variety Fruit Ltd. and then with Bluebell Grocers, after which Belle retired. Belle was a loving wife and companion to her husband Zen and helped him face his own health challenges as his steadfast caregiver. Belle was a devoted mother and grandmother, whose extended family was very important to her. She loved cooking, reading, knitting, figure skating and crossword puzzles, and her time at Lake Winnipeg. She was a longtime member of Bnai Brith Women Maple Leaf Chapter, and her favourite time of the week was her Wednesdays with the Bnai Brith Womens Bowling League, whose members paid her the honour of cancelling bowling on the day of her funeral and attending en masse. Belles family thanks the staff of the 5th floor at Victoria Hospital, particularly Wendy, Belles primary nurse, Trevor who gave such excellent care in her final hours, and Jackie and Nicole who were so kind to Belles daughters after her passing. The funeral was held October 6 at Eytz Chaim Synagogue with internment at the Bnay Abraham Cemetery. Pallbearers were Norm Mayer, Garry Heidinger, Rubin Mayer, Matthew, Jesse and Seth Mayer. If so desired, donations may be made to the Jewish National Fund.
