SHIRLEY BELLE PETRIN (nee KEY) After a lengthy illness our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother passed away October 5, 2004 at the age of 83. She was predeceased by her husband Noel in 1992. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her four daughters, Dianne (Tom), Patricia Nairne (Brian), Carole (Cliff), Terry Stiles (Mike) and her son James Petrin (Colleen). She will be missed by her grand-children, David, Cindy Grieve (Brian), Chris, Susan (Larry), Natalie Matthies (Desmond), Adam (Leanne), Sarah (Tim), Danielle, and by her four great-grandchildren and her sister Pat Symko. Shirley was born in Winnipeg December 11, 1920 to Frank and Beatrice Key. She was the fifth of eight children. She married Noel in 1942. Mom retired from the Westin Hotel in 1984 where she had held the position of Executive Housekeeper for many years. She enjoyed the several trips she took as she loved travelling. Shirley was an avid gardener, a wonderful cook and a very talented woodcarver. She loved needlework and knitting. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Riverview Health Centre (3E) for their care and compassion. We would also like to thank the WHA home care workers who made it possible for mom to remain in her home for so long. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 8 at 3:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers a donation to CancerCare Manitoba would be appreciated if friends so desire.
