SONJA SLEVA After a lengthy illness, Sonja passed away on October 5, 2004 with her family at her side at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Sonja is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, John; her children, Sam (Tracy), their children Robin, Justin and Tyler; Ken (Irene), their children Joshua and Kyle; Rick (Tracy), their children Brittnay and Wesley; Susan (Gary) extended family and friends. Sonja arrived in Canada, a holocaust survivor, at the young age of 13. She spent all of her adult life in Vancouver where she and John raised their three children. Being the matriarch of the family, Sonja always welcomed everyone with open arms. Sonja had a unique ability to never judge people and always spoke her mind. She helped guide and change peoples lives with her love and sense of dignity. The family would like to thank the M.I.C.U. at the Health Sciences Centre and the I.C.U. and Dialysis at Surrey Memorial. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 12013 STN BRM B, Toronto, ON M7Y 2L3.
