Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALLAN GEORGE STACEY Peacefully on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 and surrounded by his family, Allan passed away at Seven Oaks hospital at the age of 86. He will be sadly missed by Flora his wife of 62 years; along with sons, Wayne (Helen), Brian (Elaine), Brent (Cynthia) grandchildren, David, Christine (Rob) Egilson, Karen (Mark) Ehlebracht, Andrea (fiance Darrell Rehirchuk), Michael (Robin) great-grandchildren, Joshua, Rachel and Aidan; sister Myrtle (Clifford) Ridley; sisters-in-law, Jean McIntosh, Kathleen Wagner and Ruth (Earl) Frith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Allan was born in Mowbray, MB on September 1, 1918 but lived most of his youth in LaRiviere. In 1939, he began working for the Canadian Pacific Railway but temporarily left to serve in Ottawa with the Canadian Armed Forces from 1941 to 1945. He returned briefly to Manitoba to marry Flora in LaRiviere on February 24, 1942. In 1948, Allan and Flora moved to Winnipeg where they raised their three sons in West Kildonan. As a trainman with the CPR, Allan was concerned about the interests of his coworkers, served many years as Local Chairman of the United Transportation Union, and was very active in the CP Pensioners Association. Allan enjoyed many sports and played baseball and hockey in his younger days. After retiring in 1981, he became a member of the Assiniboine Golf Club, spending many enjoyable games with his golfing companions. He also pursued an avid interest in genealogy and for many years was actively involved with the Kildonan United Church. He looked forward to gatherings with family and listening to their stories. Vacations were a special time for the family, particularly the many summers spent at Clear Lake. The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion. Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Kildonan United Church, 187 Kilbride Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2V 0Z7.
