Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGISLI BJORN GUDLAUGUR BJORNSON It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Bjorn Bjornson, aged 64 years, of Arborg on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at the Arborg Hospital. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife of 42 years, Alice (Boundy), his four sons, Rob and his wife Shelby, and precious grandchildren, Cassedi and Collby of Stony Plain, AB; Timothy; Rene and his wife Lisa; and Mark and his wife Sheri, all of Calgary, AB. He also leaves his sisters, Olena Palson of Kenora, ON; Steinunn Einarson of Hnausa; Johanna and her husband George Pickering of Winnipeg; his aunt Helga Jonasson of Arborg; father and mother-in-law, George and Maria Boundy, in-laws Kristine and Karl Bauernhuber of Winnipeg, Brian and Sharon Boundy, and Herbert Boundy of Arborg. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Bjorn was predeceased by his parents Timi and Bjorg, and brother Ernest. He was born in Riverton, MB on April 20, 1940, and was raised in Vidir. Bjorn married Alice Boundy in 1962. Three of their sons were born in Arborg, and their youngest son was born in Saskatoon. He was very proud of his sons, their families and their accomplishments. Bjorn worked for the Co-op for for many years starting in Arborg, and from 1974 managed Co-op stores in Delisle, Churchbridge and Lestock, SK before moving back to Manitoba in 1987. They lived at Moosehorn and Ashern before moving back to the Arborg area in 2002. At the time of his death he was helping a school friend with fall harvesting. Bjorn loved music, and played guitar from a very young age with his uncle Bjossi, and aunties Kristjana and Helga. He played with several bands throughout the years, and most recently entertained at many functions as Bjorn and Company. Bjorn was very proud of his Icelandic Heritage. A private family graveside service will be held at the Riverton Community Cemetery on Saturday, October 9 followed by a memorial service at the Hnausa Community Hall at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Trudy Thorarinson officiating.
