LORNA MARGUERITE VAN LEUSDEN After a too short but well lived life of great times, hard work and loving friendships, ended by a spirited struggle with cancer which she faced realistically, thoughtfully and stubbornly yet with humour and a touch of denial when necessary, Lorna passed way peacefully on October 3, 2004 with her loving husband John Bernik at her side. Born in Winnipeg, MB on August 7, 1945. Beloved daughter of Frank Van Leusden and his wife Phyllis of Victoria, BC. Predeceased by her mother Margaret Van Leusden and her brother Russell Van Leusden. Also survived by her nephew Ken Van Leusden and his wife Monica of Barcelona, Spain. Dear niece of Muriel Derham of Winnipeg; and cousin of Heather and John Kleiner of Saskatoon; Clive Derham and Irene Giesbrecht of Winnipeg; Phyllis and Bruce Gallimore of Winnipeg; and Clare and Ken Bell of Brandon. Lorna was a dedicated and caring teacher with the Peel District School Board, a member of the Dixie Curling Club and a parishioner of St. Dominics Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, October 8 at St. Dominics Roman Catholic Church in Mississauga, ON. Interment at St. Anne Cemetery in Tecumseh, Ontario on October 9. As an expression of your sympathy, a donation may be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, 610 University Ave., Toronto, M5G 2K9.
