VELMA ANNE ELIZABETH HILTON (nee BURNETT) At the Grace Hospital, on October 10, 2004, in her 93rd year, Velma slipped gently and peacefully into Gods eternal rest and care. She was born on March 13, 1912, to Anne and Gordon Burnett. Velma was predeceased by her husband Lloyd (1981) by her parents; and by her three siblings, sister Helen, brother Leslie and sister Isabel. She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth (Barbara) in Winnipeg, and Gerald (Shirley) in New Brunswick; by seven grandchildren; and by 11 great-grandchildren. Velmas abiding faith was her anchor in life, it gave her great joy, and it sustained and comforted her in difficult times. She was active throughout her long life in the works of the Baptist Church of Canada, which honoured her with a Life Membership in the Baptist Womens League of Western Canada. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 15 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Reception and private family interment will follow. Flowers are gratefully declined.
