JOYCE DOREEN DYCK (HOWEY)

JOYCE DOREEN DYCK (nee HOWEY) On October the 12, 2004 at 75 years and after a long battle with cancer, Joyce left us to join her beloved husband Peter. Joyce was born in McCreary, MB on January 28, 1929 to Elmo and Nora Howey. Joyce grew up in many towns, as her dad was a pharmacist and established a number of drug stores. Her mother was a school teacher and education was highly valued. Joyce earned three University Degrees, a B.Sc. in 1951 in pharmacy (where she was the only woman in her year) a BA in 1957 and later an MSW in 1971. She worked for many years as pharmacist before pursuing a career in social work. As a social worker, she worked for the Childrens Aid Society of Winnipeg, the Misericordia Hospital and for Provincial Home-Care Service. Left to mourn are her son Gary (Susan), Orianne, Geoffrey and Raymond and daughter Cindy (Brent), Beth and Paula. Joyces love for animals was with her until the very end. Special thanks go to her care givers who have looked after her since Peters passing, especially during her last few months. Funeral service was held on Friday, October 15 at 3:00 p.m. in Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. with interment following in Thomson "In the Park" Cemetery.
