Date of Passing: Oct 11, 2004
Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGINA (JEANNE) KOWERKO (nee THEIRMAN) Peacefully, on October 11, 2004 at Selkirk Hospital with her family by her side, Jeanne Kowerko, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 70 years old. Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband Clarence; her children, Bob, Kathy Groves (Bill), Blaine (Sheril), Randy, Loreen Lawrence (Maynard) grandchildren, Garret, Krystal, Olivia, Janelle, Ashley, Jeanne, Josie; great-grandson Blake; and her only sister Alma Schroffel. She was predeceased by her mother Ida Theirman (1963), father Robert Theirman (1981), daughter Georgina (1960) and grandson Sean (1986). Jeanne was born September 22, 1934 in Winnipeg. Most of her school years were spent in St. Josephs Catholic School. She married Clarence in June 1953, and recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. In 1964 after building their dream home the family relocated to St. Andrews where they completed their family and raised their five children and granddaughter. Her main interest was her family, holidays were always special there was always enough food for at least 15 more people, at Christmas time it took her a month to decorate and bake the treats she passed down to us from her mother. Not only for her children but also for many nieces, nephews and friends she could be found on the morning of their wedding, completing the finishing touches on their custom ordered cakes. At least a half hour before mass on Sundays she could be found already seated silently praying and patiently waiting for her children. Jeanne was a member of the CWL and a "real" Knights wife. The family would like to thank the following, the staff in the Intensive care unit of Concordia, the staff and doctors at Selkirk Hospital. Msgr. McCloskey and the parishioners of St. Theresas for their prayers. Pallbearers will be her grandson Garret Groves, nephews Ed Schroffel, Mark Miller, Martin Miller, Murray Kowerko, and Rick Kowerko. Prayers will be held 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 14 at St. Theresas Parish, 3597 Main St., Middlechurch, MB. A mass to celebrate her life will be held at St. Theresas Parish on Friday, October 15 at 1:00 p.m. Msgr. L McCloskey as celebrant. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Cemetery.
