JOHN SIRYJ Longtime Flin Flon resident John Siryj passed away, at the age of 77, on October 12, 2004 at the Flin Flon General Hospital, after a brief illness. John came to Canada from Ukraine in 1930, at the age of three, with his parents and brother. He completed high school in Flin Flon and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in electrical engineering. While at university, he enjoyed singing in the Ukrainian male chorus under the leadership of Alexander Koshetz. Returning to Flin Flon he became a partner in the family business, the Flin Flon Dry Cleaners, and remained with the firm until his retirement. He continued to live in Flin Flon and, over the years, he greatly enjoyed the company of many good friends. Johns pastimes included preparing his culinary specialties for his friends, as well as fishing and prospecting. He read widely and loved a good debate. His involvement with the Hapnot Lake Wilderness Project in its early years was an example of his love of the outdoors. John is survived by his nieces Vicky and Darcia, and his sister-in-law Anne. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Katherine; and his brother Michael. According to his wishes, cremation will take place. Friends may pay their last respects Saturday, October 16 from 12:00 noon until 12:45 p.m. from the Chapel of Dadson Funeral Home. 120 Hwy. 10A, Flin Flon. Funeral services for John Siryj will be held Saturday, October 16 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Dadson Funeral Home, 120 Hwy. 10A, Flin Flon, MB. A reception will follow at the Victoria Inn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Johns name to a charity of ones choice. He will always be remembered. Dadson Funeral Home of Flin Flon, Manitoba, is entrusted with the arrangements. 687-5821
