Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN BUTTERWORTH (nee GRAY) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our caring, generous and respected mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Jean Butterworth on Thursday, October 14, 2004, at St. Boniface Hospital after a courageous struggle with kidney disease. Jean was born in Winnipeg where she met her husband Leslie. They were married in 1936 and enjoyed 42 years together before Les died. Jeans family was the pride and focus of her life. She had a deep concern for the welfare of all those she knew, and she always welcomed everyone into her home. Her ability to unconditionally value and accept people, whatever their walk in life might be, was among her most admirable traits. Jeans tremendous sense of fair play and compassion dominated all aspects of her life and her living example was powerful encouragement for her family. Among her secrets of success was the finding of happiness in simple things together with unwavering optimism. Lovingly remembered and sadly missed, she is survived by her daughter Maureen Pedersen; sons, Tom Butterworth (Edythe), Donald (Sharon) seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister Kay Lang (Arthur) in Vancouver; sister-in-law Vera Oliver of Woking, England; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 22 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, 730 Taylor Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3M 2K8. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
