In November 1939 Mandy enlisted in the Royal Canadian Active Air Force which he served for more than five years. He ranked as Pilot Officer and Flight Lieutenant in the RCAF Special Reserve. Mandy spent the majority of his business career working diligently in the furniture business. Beyond work, Mandy displayed a wide range of interests throughout his life. As a sportsman, he began a highly successful career in running and football. These were replaced by handball and golf as he grew older. He participated in many other sports as well. Mandy shared his passion for chess, bridge and cribbage with his friends, children and grandchildren. Mandy was a 32nd degree Mason and lifetime member of Bnai Brith Lodge. The essence of Mandy was captured by all who honoured him - mainly his "joie de vivre" and his love and loyalty to family and close friends. Mandys deep passion and devotion for Yetta influenced all his lifetime decisions and made a lasting impression on everyone. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, memorial donations in Mandys memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Mr. Helper was such a lovely man. My grandparents thought very highly of not only your father, but of your family. I am sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Jane Waters (Granddaughter of neighbour (Margaret and Courtenay Waters)) on: Nov 13, 2016
