He passed away October 1, 2004 in his home in Abbotsford, BC. Curtis leaves to mourn his passing his daughters, Trisha (Mark), Chilliwack, BC, Lennie, Squamish, BC; son John, Chilliwack; grandchildren, Vanessa, Taylor, Sierrah and Mariah; parents, Garfield and Gladys Monkman, Selkirk, MB; brothers, Bud (Gail), Gillam, MB, Bob (Kelly), Oakbank, MB; sisters, Marie (George), Yellowknife, NT, Peggy (Bill), Gillam, Kathy, Yellowknife, Belle (Art), Logan Lake, BC; and many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service was held in Chilliwack, officiated by Pastor Hiebert, assisted by brother Bud. Curtis was born in Loon Straits, MB and moved to Grand Rapids, MB at the age of 3, where he spent the next 15 years. He spent time in Yellowknife, moving to Chilliwack in the early 1980s. Over the years he was involved in all kinds of sports, both playing and coaching. He started hunting and fishing at an early age. This was his greatest joy, and many of his friends commented about it at the memorial service. Fly fishing was also something he loved. He took pride in creating and tying his own flies. He had a very inventive and creative mind and many things he did at his place of employment were testament to this. Our son, you are now at rest and we shall all "Gather at the River" one day. We love you.
