Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARION McDONALD CAMPBELL August 27, 1919 - October 14, 2004 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Marion Campbell, of Calgary, formerly of Dauphin, on October 14, 2004. We feel blessed that her passing was peaceful, her twin girls were at her side, and she has gone to a better place. She will be greatly missed by daughters, Bev (Rod) Smith and Sherry (Rick) Hubka; and grandchildren, Carrie and Kyle Hubka; as well as her brother Justins eight children and families, Maureen and Butch, Jim and Sharon, Norma, Barb, Bev and Denis, Lori, Joan and Joe and Shelley and Perry; and other relatives and friends across the country. Mom was born in Dauphin to original pioneers, Jim and Maude Campbell. While she spent the majority of her 85 years in Dauphin, she also lived in Toronto during the 1950s (where her son Angus was born and passed away at age 4, and twins, Bev and Sherry were born) Calgary during the early 1960s; and Swan River during the late 1960s. In between her moves, she always returned to her place of birth, where her parents, as well as her brother Justin and family, lived. In 1998 Mom relocated to Calgary to live with her daughter Sherry and Rick and two grandchildren. She stayed with them four years and then was placed in Bow-Crest Care Centre to face the challenges associated with Alzheimers. Mom had the wonderful gift of a great sense of humour, and was steadfast in all of her convictions, supporting every cause that she believed in with both time and money. She was very involved with her British Israel faith, the League of Rights, politics, and local community groups such as the Royal Purple in Swan River and the Dauphin Pioneers Association, where she served as Secretary for many years and hospital visitor. In between all of her causes, she was a great correspondent, and made literally thousands of crafts over the years, particularly her little hat pincushions. She grew beautiful flowers and entered arrangements that won many prizes at the Dauphin Fair. She always had a garden, with a large hedge of nanking cherries. Mom also loved her music and dances, and always tried her best to get everyone involved. She did lots of chording on the piano for fiddling and Pioneer events, and served as an alternate piano player for the Salvation Army Church from time to time. She enjoyed many years of card parties with the neighbours on 4th Avenue N.E. Her door was always open to company, with no appointment required. While Mom was mostly a stay-at-home mom, she did work at the Dauphin Creamery in her early years, did some office work in Winnipeg, managed the Airport Motel and worked at the local skating rink while we were growing up in Dauphin. Funeral service at Riverside Chapel, Dauphin, on Tuesday, October 19 at 2:00 p.m., Captain Peter Mitchell officiating. No viewing. Interment at the Dauphin Riverside Cemetery. Lunch to follow at Riverside. Pallbearers, Rod Smith, Rick and Kyle Hubka, Butch Fleury, Denis Savoie and Gordie Smith. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Malcolm family for allowing Mom, as per her request, to be buried in the Malcolm plot alongside Bob Malcolm, her companion of 12 years until his death in 1980. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society or the Mennonite Central Committee, or to a charity of ones choice. PERSONAL ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL SERVICES, Calgary, 1-888-216-5111
