JULIE KOPRAJDA October 17, 1914 - October 17, 2004 God wanted mamka to celebrate her 90th birthday with Him. On October 17, 2004, Julie Koprajda passed away peacefully at SOGH on her birthday at the wonderful age of 90. She was born in Pohorela, Slovakia. Her favourite story to tell to anyone (even those who did not understand Slovak) always began with "I was the 9th of 11 children..." and she was the last surviving sibling. She came to Canada and settled in Winnipeg in 1969 to start a new life with her husband Jozef and younger son Ondrej. She worked at the Centennial Concert Hall until 1984. Her faith was very important to her, she was a longtime parishioner of Visitation of Our Lady Slovak Church then attended mass daily at St. Marys Cathedral until recently. Left to cherish her memories are sons Jozef, (Anna) and Ondrej (Anna) grandchildren, Anna (Matej), Emily (Ondrej), Jana, Anne (Robert) and Andrew; six great-grandchildren; Anne Resek and family in Alberta; and many relatives in Canada and Slovakia. Julie was predeceased by her husband Jozef Koprajda. Thanks to the doctors and nurses of 4, Unit 1, who took care of her during her stay at the hospital. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 21 at 9:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with viewing one half hour prior to service. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery (on Osborne Street). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Julies memory to the charity of ones choice.
