Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory"CAPTAIN" MILES THOMAS SUTHERLAND Peacefully with his family at his side, Miles Thomas "Captain" Sutherland of Peguis First Nation, passed away on October 18, 2004, at the age of 53 years. "Captain" leaves to cherish his memories, his mother Frances Sutherland; son Cory Gartner and mother Debra of Winnipeg; sisters, Helen (Grant) Panting of Lockport, Bev Cameron of Selkirk; brothers, Orton (Karen) of Peguis, Doug (Darlene) of Peguis, Dan of Winnipeg, Lloyd of Peguis and Chris of Winnipeg; special aunt Shirley and uncle Louis Stevenson; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. "Captain" was predeceased by his father Alfred Sutherland; sister Hilda Donald; brothers, Neal and Brian in infancy, Gerald "Jay"; stepbrother Alex Sutherland; stepsister Ruby Manningway; nephews, Roddy Traverse Jr. and Dennis Dorion. "Captain" derived his name for the many years he spent working on fishing boats, tugs, freighters and barges in various places like the Yukon, Tuktoytuk, NT and also Lake Winnipeg. He was also a miner in Pine Point, NT. "Captain" spent his later years in Peguis, visiting with family and friends, especially Kenny. "Captain" will be always loved and remembered. The family would like to thank the Peguis Chief and Council, Rose, his "home care" worker, and caring friends who brought food, offered prayers and gifts. May God bless you all. Wake service will be held on Wednesday, October 20 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Matthews Anglican Church, Peguis, MB, with viewing from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with Rev.
