Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY THIESSEN It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Thiessen announces her passing on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at the age of 80 years. Mary Thiessen was born on March 4, 1924 in the village of Neuendorf in southern Ukraine. Her parents were Kornelius and Maria Thiessen (nee Winter). In 1943, Mary fled to the West, settling in Germany, and in 1947, she immigrated to Canada with her mother and two sisters. After arriving in Canada, Mary landed a job with Paulin Chambers, where she worked as a supervisor, retiring in 1989 after 38 years of service. In 1995, she suffered a stroke which left her partially paralysed. She was able to continue to lead an active life, living at Bethania Haus for almost ten years, thanks to the assistance of her family, the dedication of Adina Wall, and the help of Home Care Services. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Katie in 1987, as well as two siblings in infancy. She is survived by her sister Susanne and brother-in-law Gerhard Thiessen; three nieces and a nephew, Lori Hermary (Paul), Ingrid Thiessen (Lawrence Baschak), Katie Watters (Tim) and Vern; as well as seven grandnephews and grandnieces, beloved cousins, and many friends. We wish to thank Dr. Doermer and the staff who cared for her at Concordia Hospital (N3), especially Donna and Ron. Funeral service will be held Monday, October 25 at 1:30 p.m. in First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame at Alverstone, with interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethania Ministries, 1045 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, MB. KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor - 925-1120
