BARBARA MARY SMITH (nee THOULD) Peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2004, at the age of 84, Barbara Smith passed away at Concordia Hospital. Barbara leaves to mourn her loving husband, Jack; and her three children, Tom (Stephanie), Jane and Susan; grandchildren, Robert Niesler, Barbara Niesler, Lyle (Shannon) Wiebe, Dale Wiebe, Steven Smith and Wendy Smith. Barb will be sorely missed by her sisters, Margaret (Peggy) (Gord) and Ada (Bert) her sisters-in-law, Hildred Thould, Grace Ainge and Dorothy Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Ada Thould; her brothers, Tom and Jim; and her sister Joan. Barbs life revolved around her family and friends. She always had the time for a kind word, a helping hand and best of all you could count on her for a laugh. Barb had unselfishly given a lot back to her community of Transcona. She was still active with the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the United Church Womens Group. Some of her many pastimes included curling, volunteering with Meals on Wheels and up until the past few years, spending time at the cottage in Echo Bay. Bingo and spending time at the Club Regent Casino was one of the favourite ways she liked to spend her time. Since their retirement Barb and Jack spent many happy holidays travelling throughout Canada and in the southern United States. Barbs family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to the wonderful health care staff at Concordia Hospital wards Emergency and N1South. Memorial service to be held on Thursday, October 28, at 10:00 a.m. at the Transcona Memorial United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
