Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE EDWARD TACKABERRY Born Brandon, MB October 17, 1928 Died Vancouver, BC October 24, 2004 Predeceased by wife Joan McRitchie Tackaberry (MacKay) June 5, 1977 Survived by son John (Jacquie) daughter Jo Ann; and son George (Sandra) and adored grandchildren, Audrey, Brenda, Anne Elizabeth, and George. Survived also by companion Blanche Saunders and Tasa. "Tack" schooled in Winnipeg, Montreal, and St. Johns College School in Winnipeg. In 1950 he joined Hobbs Glass in Winnipeg and was soon transferred to Fort William, ON. There he met Joan and they married in August 1952 after Joan received her R.N. In 1956 "Tack" was transferred to Vancouver and the couple and the start of a young family moved to Sea Island and in 1958 to Lulu Island. "Tack" was proud of his membership in the Richmond Volunteer Fire Department from 1956 till the start of the paid Department in 1960, both at the Sea Island Hall and later at Brighouse Hall. "Tack" advanced in his work. Through Sales, Architectural Rep. for the company in Western Canada and on to manager of the Construction Division of PPG Canada (successor to Hobbs Glass). "Tack" and his capable staff successfully bid and managed the supply and installation of glass and/or aluminium to major projects in Western Canada such as Bentall Centre, Pacific Centre, Airports at Vancouver, Calgary, Canada Place, Vancouver Courthouse and many more until early retirement after the Division was discontinued by the company.
