Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROMAN (ROY) MARCHUK Peacefully on October 29, 2004 at the age of 81, with his devoted wife and children by his side, Roy was reunited with his parents and his daughter Iliene, who welcomed him into Heaven. Roy was born April 17, 1923 in Kilkenny, MB when crocuses were in bloom. Except for his army days, he spent all his life in the Broad Valley area, working hand in hand with his wife, as a farmer, trapper, mechanic and carpenter. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and supported the needs and wishes of others. In his later life, Roy spent many a happy hour feeding the deer and hummingbirds and taking movie pictures of the wildlife that inhabited his yard for years. He enjoyed helping wildlife of all kinds and was affectionately known as the "warden". Dad loved playing cards with his friends, going to bingo, spending time with grandson, Curtis and eating maple walnut ice cream. Dad will be remembered for his tough exterior and strong work ethic which he instilled in his children and family. His memory will forever warm the heart of his loving wife, Louise, of 62 years. He also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Rita Shachtay (Don Durrant), Roland (Julia Kozminski), Linda Sutyla (Brian) and Judy Chyzy (George) his grandchildren, Louise "Chicky", Michael, Holly, Rochelle (Barry), Matthew, Raymond, Roland (Betty Ann), Rene (Darlene), Curtis and Anthony; and great-grandchildren, Madison, Todd, Nicholas, Ashley, Thomas and Steven. He will be missed by son-in-law, Terry Hudson (Iliene) daughter-in-law, Pat Marchuk and only surviving sister, Nettie Flamand; brothers-in-law, Paul Belliveau (Elsie) and George Belliveau (Joan), numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends, Ben Wishnowski, Mary and Peter Berry, Dora Wagner, Joe Huewan and special friend Louise Cote. Roy was predeceased by his parents, Anna Wakaluk and Nikolas Marchuk; stepfather, Gabriel Beauchamp; daughter, Iliene; son-in-law, Mike Shachtay; father-in-law, Roland Belliveau and mothers-in-law, Rose and Grace; brothers, John (Ann) and Bill (Annie) sisters, Mary, Lena (Paul), and Alice. The family appreciates the ongoing emotional support and understanding during the very difficult time. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Arborg Memorial Hospital and all the people who stopped in to chat with our Dad. In life we loved you dearly In death we do the same It broke our hearts to lose you But you did not go alone For part of us went with you The day God called you home You left us peaceful memories Your love is still our guide And although we cannot see you You are always at our side God say you getting tired So He put His arms around you And whispered "Come with Me" When we saw you sleeping So peaceful free from pain We could not wish you back to suffer again Our family chain is broken And nothing seems the same But as God calls us one by one Our chain will link again. A celebration of his life will be held in the Broad Valley Hall in Broad Valley, MB on Tuesday, November 2 at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be Wesley Barrett. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to charity of ones choice. Arrangements in care of Fisher Funeral Home, Fisher Branch, MB. (204) 372-6271 / 372-6803
