Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID LLOYD GEORGE DUNNING February 10, 1918 - October 29, 2004 On Friday, October 29, 2004 at the Arborg Personal Care Home, David Dunning, aged 86 years of Arborg, MB, formerly of McCreary, MB. David is survived by his loving wife Vera; daughter Roberta (Marvin) Magnusson; grandsons, Aaron (Crystal) and their children, Bailey and Alexis; and Shawn all of Riverton; sister-in-law Jeanette Dunning of Red Deer, AB; special niece Joanne (Henry) Kuyp and their children, Jason and Jennifer of Tyndal, MB as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two infant daughters; his parents, Joseph and Annie (Cole) his brothers, Colin, Alex, Albert and his sisters, Alice, Ada, Janet and Hazel. David was born in the Landsdown Municipality, then moved with his family to McCreary in 1921. On November 2, 1940 he married Vera Shaw of Norgate and shared a life together for almost 64 years. Dad enlisted with the WLI in 1942 and was medically discharged in 1943. They farmed in the Turtle Plains district for the first years of their marriage then in 1958 he was hired to supervise the construction of the Wilson Creek Weir a two month job that turned into a 23 years position. Dad was councillor in the R.M. of McCreary from 1955-1958, drainage trustee from 1956-1967 and Reeve from 1962-1986. He loved sports, especially curling and watching hockey. In 1990 they sold the farm and moved to Brandon; in 1998 they moved to Arborg. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Arborg Personal Care Home for their loving care and respect for Dad during his stay there. Prayers will be held Tuesday (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, MB with Pastor Trudy Thorarinson officiating. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 3 at 12:00 noon in the McCreary Gospel Church, McCreary, MB with Pastors, Roger Woywoda and Roy Fordyce officiating. Interment will follow in the Kelwood Cemetery. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, MB in care of arrangements.
