RANDALL DARRYL (RANDY) SOBERING Mr. Randy Sobering of Winnipeg, MB passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, October 31, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 49 years. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his daughter Dana Cotton (Ryan) of Drayton Valley, AB.; his brother Doug and his wife Marlene of Beausejour; his nephews, Brett Sobering of Creston, BC and Steven and his wife Melanie of Beausejour; as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Bernice in 1992 and his father Albert in 1994. Randy worked as a drywall applicator all of his life until his heart surgery in Calgary in 1995. He was slightly handicapped after his surgery, but continued to work in a limited capacity until another heart surgery in Windsor in 2000, when he suffered a stroke. After his stroke, he moved back to Winnipeg, where he lived until his passing. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Avenue East, Beausejour, Rev. Hugh Laidlaw officiating. Graveside service will take place at 3:00 p.m. at the Steinbach Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB. Friends may view prior to the service and on Wednesday at the funeral chapel from 7:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in his memory may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
