DAVID MARR On Sunday, October 31, 2004, David Marr passed away at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 85 years. He was predeceased by his wife Audrey (Burnett) in May of 2000. David will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his children, Elizabeth (Nick Slonosky) and grandchildren, David and Allison, and by his son Brock (Beth) and Brocks children, Danielle, Lindsey and Roxanne and their mother Norma, all of Winnipeg. He also leaves to mourn sisters-in-law, Eileen Tarrant (John) of Victoria, Evelyn Ross of Saskatoon and Mildred Hodgson (George) of Manitou and his many nieces and nephews. David was born on March 12, 1919. He spent his life in Winnipeg and graduated from Gordon Bell high school. David enlisted in the Air Force and spent time overseas in London until the end of the war in 1945. Returning home he worked at the Dominion Bureau of Statistics, served in the justice system as a probation officer for youth and then joined the Highways Department of the Provincial Government retiring with 28 years of service. David was a devoted husband and father, married for 49 years. He adored his wife and children; family was his first priority. He encouraged and supported his children in all things. He delighted in his grandchildren and took every occasion to spoil them. He enjoyed seeing them grow and attending the many recitals, hockey, soccer and ringette games. He took pleasure in his workshop and vast array of tools, he could build or fix anything. He enjoyed stamp and coin collecting and was quite an artist. David will be remembered for his warm and generous nature and wonderful sense of humour. He was most happy when he could make others laugh and feel good. He enjoyed people and life and found happiness and comfort in the strength of his Christian faith. Thank you to the staff of Deer Lodge Centre for your warm care over the past six months. A special thanks to health care worker Leigh Anne. David so enjoyed your company. A memorial service will be held at the Broadway First Baptist Church, 790 Honeyman Ave. on Saturday, November 6 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Suite 200, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or to a charity of choice.
