October 15, 1918 - November 1, 2004 On November 1, 2004, at the Victoria Hospital, Percy McCorriston passed away at the age of 86 years. Percy was predeceased by his wife Ferne (Bingham) parents, David and Eva (Green) McCorriston; sisters, Gladys Irving, Fern Brown and Wendy Amison. He is survived by his wife of 15 years Joan (Miscavish) sons, David (Pat), Ross (Bonny) and daughter Pat Hardy; grandchildren, Glen (Candy), Brian (Kim), Darren (Colleen), Robert, Don (Jen), Richard (Kerri), Michael (Lynette) sister Iva McGuiness; and numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Percy was born on October 15, 1918 in Gladstone, MB. He moved to Winnipeg at an early age and attended Gladstone School. While still young he worked with his dad delivering for Winnipeg Paint and Glass by horse and buggy. He served in the Second World War with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and was decorated by King George VI at Buckingham Palace with the Military Medal. After the war Percy joined the Winnipeg Fire Department in 1946, retiring as a Captain in 1983. He was so proud to have his son and grandson follow in his footsteps with the Winnipeg Fire Department. Percy was a longtime member of the Fort Garry Legion. He also enjoyed golfing, gardening, music and dancing. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The family would like to thank the staff at the Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion.
