EDWIN WONNEK On Sunday, October 31, 2004, Edwin Wonnek, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 75 years. Ed was born in Steinbach, MB on August 21, 1929. He is survived by his loving wife Esther (nee Borkowsky) of 52 years; two sons, Brad and Miles (Betty). He was predeceased by his parents John and Pauline Wonnek; brother Henry; sisters, Loreen and Matilda; brothers-in-law, Henry Radke, Phil Morse, Mike Tureski, Gottlieb Borkowsky, Johnny Borkowsky, Emil Mantie, Bill Fiebelkorn, Bert Carriere, Andy Nehaj, James Rivard, Jack Schinkel, and Henry Borkowsky; sisters-in-law, Mary Wonnek, Lydia Mantie, and Luella Borkowsky. He is also survived by his brothers, Roy (Ena), Raymond (June) sisters, Lavina Radke, Noreen (Lars) Bracken and Grace Morse; sisters-in-law, Christine Borkowsky, Lydia Borkowsky, Minnie Carriere, Molly Rivard, Christine Fiebelkorn, Irene Schinkel, and Joyce Nehaj; brothers-in-law, Eugene Leeson, Manuel (Ethel) Borkowsky, Alfred (Christine) Borkowsky, Herbie (Doreen) Borkowsky, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thanks to nurses Cory, Linda, Heather, Gundi, and Craig; to the orderly Frank; doctors Jakeamaar Maxwell and Young for their compassionate understanding and kindness. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 5, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 401 Kildare Ave. W. with viewing one hour prior to the service with Pastor Dan Abraham officiating. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will follow and a private family interment will take place at a later date.
