Edith was born on December 23, 1921 in Brokenhead, MB and grew up in the Lydiatt area. In 1943 she married Vern Byhre and together they raised a family of six. As all who knew her she had many loves and passions, her family was always first, and her church was always a priority from the time she came into the world until the time she left. She was a longtime member of First English Lutheran Church and more recently, Abundant Life Lutheran Church. She gave many life lessons starting with loving one another, giving to others in need, and prayer. These and many other lessons were well taught and continue to resonate with her children and her grandchildren. Many heartfelt thanks to the many souls who visited and comforted her at home and in the hospital, including her Home Care friends Anna and Elizabeth, her neighbours and friends, Pastor Bob Jacob and Vi and her church family, her physician Dr. Husarewich, the doctors, nurses and staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital, particularly Trinity. Also special thanks to the staff of the Health Sciences Pain Clinic for providing quality of life for her over the last few months of her life, especially to Dr. Nelson Svorkdal and staff members, Marcie, Dean and Linda. And lastly, a thank you to the Selkirk & Area Paramedic Service, especially to the wonderful paramedic who took time and prayed with our mother, it meant a world to her. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 5 at Sherwood Park Lutheran Church, 7 Tudor Cr. It is requested that no flowers be given, however, a donation to the Abundant Life Lutheran Church Building Fund in Edith Byhres memory would be desired.
