Laing announces his passing on November 2, 2004 at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 70. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Joan; his children, Lloyd (Evelyn) Les, Dan (Karen), Shirl (Doug) his grandchildren, Chad (Denise), Kurt (Shari), Chris (Cortney) Evan (Holly), Deanna (Jordon) and Brett (Megan) his great-grandchild Marek; and special nephew Alvin Thompson. He is also survived by his brothers, Don (Gale), Ray (Ann) Ed; sister-in-law Marie; brother-in-law Ingvald (Mary) as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Peggy; his sister Freda; his in-laws, Roy and Ester Thompson; brother-in-law Chris Christianson; brother-in-law Emil Thompson; and sister-in-law Effie; and grandson Mark. George was born and raised in Elm Creek on March 16, 1934. He farmed in the Elm Creek district and George was Zone 2 director for the Manitoba Trappers Association for a number of years and a member of the Pembina Valley Fur Council. George enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, trapping and fishing. He gave us so many wonderful memories that well cherish forever. He had a great love of life and family, and we will keep him in our hearts forever. Funeral service will be held from the St. Andrews United Church in Elm Creek on Saturday, November 6 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Harold Kenyon officiating. Interment will take place in the Elm Creek Cemetery, Elm Creek, MB. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Doyles Funeral Chapel of Carman. www.doyleschapels.com
