MELVILLE "MEL" BATEMAN 1915 - 2004 Mr. Mel Bateman of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of 65 years to Lillian Bateman, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2004, at the age of 89 years. He will be fondly remembered by his three children, Eleanor (Brian) Critchley, Gordon (Marion) Bateman and Barbara (Dennis) Beifus; six grandchildren, Douglas (Christina) Critchley, Kristine Critchley, Kevin (Sandie) Critchley, Haly (Brad) Garrett, Christa and Jennifer Kell; as as well as two special great-grandchildren, Konnor and Hannah Critchley. Mel was born on October 17, 1915 in southern Manitoba and spent most of his life in Winnipeg. He retired to Alberta making his home in Medicine Hat for the past 13 years, and residing at the Good Samaritans for the past year. Cremation has taken place. The funeral service was held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 - 13 St. S.W., Medicine Hat, on Wednesday, November 3, at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Barrett Scheske officiating and interment following at Hillside Cemetery.
