ELSA FRIEDA KOWAL (nee FEIGE) Peacefully, on Wednesday, November 3, 2004, Elsa Kowal, passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 76 years. Elsa is survived by her husband John; daughters, Steffie Kowal (Larry), Vera (Richard) Szczepanski and Irene Kowal (Kyle) grandchildren, Brad and Dale Karpiak, Paula Vanessa, Andrew Szczepanski; brother Rolf (Jean) Feige and family residing in Toronto, sister Hildegarde Deile and family in Germany. She was predeceased by her parents, Frieda and Otto. Elsa was born in Weimar, Germany on February 15, 1928. She immigrated to Canada in 1953 to join her soon to be husband, John. They married the next year, settling in Winnipeg and raising their family of three daughters. Elsa worked for Gambles for many years and upon retirement enjoyed her time travelling to Germany, Austria, Western Canada and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved the family gatherings and her Christmas holiday traditions will be our fondest memories. She had a passion for gardening and we reaped the benefits of her vegetable harvest. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital for their care and compassion, and gratitude to Sandy of Home Care for our very special care givers Isabella and Maria. Also thanks to Debbie at the Youville Centre for being there. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
