HENRY ALFRED COOK 1919 - 2004 It is with mixed emotions - sadness at our loss but happiness knowing his struggles and pain are over, we announce that Henry died at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Gimli, on Sunday, November 7, 2004, surrounded by the love of his family. Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife Stella; two daughters, Betty Jane and her husband Arni Arnason, Winnipeg, and Dorothy and her husband Leonard Martin, Gimli. Henry was a wonderful Grandpa to David (Corinne), Brad and Blake (Kristin) Pierce and Lynn (Don Horton), Tracy (Tim Kramble), Shannon, Allan (Leah Young) and Earl Martin. He was Great-Grandpa to Samantha, Meghan and Ethan Pierce, Mikaela and Kristjana Kramble and Ayla Horton. Henry is also survived by two sisters, Agnes (Peter Pender), Vancouver, and Rose Marie (Ben Kaminski), Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Maria Koch; brother Adolph; sisters, Ann Yurechuk and Katherine Syczylo. Henry was born January 21, 1919, in the RM of Gimli and lived in the area most of his life with the exception of 15 years spent at Moose Jaw, SK. He had a varied work life - trucking, boiler room operator and aircraft refueler at the airbases at Gimli and Moose Jaw. After retiring from the Department of National Defense, he managed River Park Campground for the city of Moose Jaw for six years. Henry and Stella retired at Gimli in 1984. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 10 at St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Gimli. Cremation has taken place. Burial of ashes will be at St. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery, Gimli. As an expression of sympathy, if family and friends desire, donations in memory of Henry may be made to Betel Home Foundation, P.O. Box 10, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0. He will be cherished in our hearts forever. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
