Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLENA CLARA McIVOR (Blue Thunderbird Woman) (Oh-sho-sko-bi-ne -sii-kwe) April 8, 1931 - November 5, 2004 Suddenly and tragically on Friday, November 5, 2004 our dear mother passed from this world to join our dad, brother Bryant and others in the spirit world. She was 73 years old. Predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Stewart Joseph McIvor; her parents, Michele and Angeline Roulette; son Bryant; daughters, Mary and Darlene; brother Clements; sisters, Alice and Joyce. She is survived by her children, Donny (Sharon), Mary Agnes, Stewart Jr. (Della), Sandra (Darren), Gerald (Louella), Irvin (Debbie), Kingsley (Brenda), Sharon (Mike), Michael Bryant McIvor Jr.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and several godchildren. Mom was born on the Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation on April 8, 1931 and resided there all of her life. In 1974 Mom graduated from the Community Health Worker Program. She worked in that capacity for years and later was employed as a Child and Family Services worker. After Moms retirement, she moved on to help dad and his sons with the family commercial fishing business. While raising her eight children, she opened her heart and doors to foster nephews, nieces, grandchildren and anyone that needed her love and understanding. Mom was "The Rock" of our family and instilled family values and morals to all that touched her life. Mom loved music and was an excellent vocalist, which this talent she passes on to her children and grandchildren. Unfortunately, Mom never got a chance to see her newest great-grandson, Ethan Joshua, son of Irvin Jr., who was born on November 7, 2004 in Winnipeg. She was a devout Catholic, attended church regularly and devoted her prayers to improving the quality of life for our community. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends, council of elders, and all community members. Wake services will be held at the Sandy Bay Community Complex on Monday, November 8, Tuesday, November 9 and Wednesday, November 10. Funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 11 at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Sandy Bay. Interment will take place in the Sandy Bay Cemetery. A traditional feast will follow. Everyone welcome. Clarkes Funeral Home, Gladstone in care of arrangements.
